The Travelodge chain offers budget stays for many across the UK. Brits love the hotels which have basic rooms for affordable prices and showcase a number of offers including kids can sleep for free, meals deals and more. There are more than 500 hotels to choose from across the UK, making the travel company the ideal solution for a cheap city break or seaside retreat.

For example, Travelodge have rooms for GBP29 a night, which works out at just GBP7.25pp for a family of four sharing a room (based on two adults, two children). Travelodge expect to see a rise in bookings following the further easing of Covid-19 restrictions in England. Most legal restrictions on social contact have now been lifted in England, and formal social distancing rules are set to come to and end on August 7 in Wales.

For those living in England, there are now no limits on how many people can meet or attend events, and face coverings are not required by law. However, people living in Wales will still have to wear face masks in many public spaces. If you're choosing to stay in a Travelodge this year, whether in England or Wales, we've compiled a handy guide below of everything you need to know regarding the hotel's changes, Covid-19 policies and latest deals.

Travelodge have a TravelodgeProtect+ programme which is designed to keep customers and teams safe at all times. Developed by a dedicated cross functional hygiene strategy team, and adopted in all our hotels across the UK, the hotel chain says TravelodgeProtect+ gives bookers peace of mind so they can book and stay with confidence. Face masks

For stays in England, Travelodge request that you wear a face covering (unless exempt) in all public areas of the hotel such as reception, lifts, stairs and corridors. For stays in Wales or Scotland it is a legal requirement for all guests to wear a face covering (unless exempt) whilst in public areas of the hotel such as reception, lifts, stairs and corridors. Social-distancing

Social-distancing measures are still being adhered to at the hotels. Distancing floor signage are visible at receptions and protective screens are in place at check ins. Contactless measures

To minimise contact, housekeeping teams will not enter bedrooms during your stay at a Travelodge. Contactless payments are available as well as contact free check out. In England, some hotels have a dedicated luggage storage room and Travelodge will accept luggage.

In Wales and Scotland to minimise contact and touch points throughout the hotels, Travelodge are unable to offer luggage storage. Guests can continue to use their room, including for luggage storage, until 12 noon on the day of departure.

Contact tracing Travellers who are staying at a Travelodge in Wales and Scotland will still need to provide contact tracing details.

As part of the Government's contact tracing programmes (known as Test Trace Protect in Wales and Test & Protect in Scotland) it is a requirement to provide contact details for every guest, over the age of 16, who is booked to stay at Travelodge before you check in to the hotel. For hotels in England this is no longer required. Quarantine and self-isolation

You are not allowed to quarantine at any Travelodge hotel as the chain is not participating in the Government hotel quarantine programme. They also do not recommend their hotels are used for self isolation, because Travelodge does not provide room service and take away food delivery drivers are not permitted to deliver food to guest bedrooms as this increases risk to other customers and their hotel teams. Cleaning

Travelodge cleaners will not enter guest bedrooms during stays unless they are staying more than six nights. If guests require additional tea and coffee or towels during their stay, then they are urged to place the top up door hanger provided outside the room to let Travelodge teams know.

Booking rules

Travelodge offer a range of rates for bookings at their hotels. Their rate terms and conditions continue to apply unless they are obliged to close any hotels entirely or the Government requires them to refund certain customer groups.

Flexible rate bookings Their flexible rate offers the most freedom to change bookings. If you book a Flexible Rate, you can amend or cancel your booking for free up until 12:00 noon on the date of arrival and you'll receive a full refund for a booking cancellation - you can amend or cancel your booking by visiting the Manage Booking section of their website.

Saver rate bookings Saver rate bookings are non-refundable. Until August 2, 2021 Travelodge have temporarily waived their usual change fee for Saver Rate bookings allowing guests to change their arrival date free of charge.

For amendments from August 2, their usual GBP5 change fee will apply. Amendments are subject to availability and must be on a like-for-like basis; this means the same rate type, same hotel and the same stay duration. If the price for guest's new booking dates is higher than the original booking date, guests will need to make the additional payment to complete their booking.

Amendments must take place prior to 12:00 noon on the original day of arrival. Their booking policy only allows you to book 325 days in advance, so if guests want to change their booking from this year to the same month next year, they won't be able to.
