Supermarket giant Tesco has confirmed changes to its Clubcard system - and they're set to affect around 19 million shoppers. Tesco had originally said the cut-off date for shoppers to use existing vouchers would be May 31 - but this has now been extended. It means these vouchers will now have a cut-off date of November 31, 2021 - giving shoppers more time to use them following the coronavirus crisis.

Tesco Clubcard coupons typically have a two-year expiry period, and the ones that have been extended are ones that were issued in May 2019. Tesco will be updating the expiry dates on its digital vouchers and will continue to accept paper vouchers in-store until the extended expiry date. However, vouchers that have already had their cut-off date pushed back - for example, ones that were due to expire in November 2020 but are now due to last until May 2021 - will still expire on these dates.

This means if you have a voucher that was due to run out in November 2020, the last day to use them is still May 31, 2021. If you're unsure when your coupon will last until, check in stores so you don't miss out, says the Mirror. To get Tesco vouchers through its Clubcard loyalty scheme, customers have to build up points by spending money in stores.

Shoppers get one point for every GBP1 they spend in store and online, or one point for every GBP2 spent on fuel. You can collect points through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile as well. You need a minimum of 150 points to get any sort of voucher, which will be worth GBP1.50 to spend in Tesco - or save them up, and 500 points would be worth GBP5, for example.

How to track down lost Clubcard vouchers

You can check if you have forgotten vouchers by logging into the Tesco Clubcard website with your account details.

Once you are logged in, click on "my Clubcard account" and then "vouchers" and you should see a table listing the vouchers you still have to spend. You can spend any leftover vouchers online straight away, or print them out from home if you would rather use them in store. If yours are close to expiring, but you do not want to spend them just yet, there is a trick to extend them.

Turn your coupons into Faster Vouchers and they will last 21 months from the date you convert your vouchers.

This means you could get an extra 21 months use out of them beyond the usual two-year expiry date.

Tesco has around 19million Clubcard members.
