A new discount retail chain is bucking the trend of high street closures with plans to open 50 shops across Britain.
JTF Central is on track to open its first store in a former Mothercare shop in Hull, which will soon be followed by ambitious expansion plans that it claims will create 2,000 new jobs.
The new venture is a welcome shot of confidence for the retail sector, which has already lost 1,663 shops this year after the collapse of the Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams chains.
JTF Central is an extension to JTF Mega Discount Warehouse, a 40-year-old business that has 12 shops on retail parks in the north and the Midlands.
