Celtic are close to announcing the appointment of their new manager as discussions reach a conclusion with Eddie Howe. The club said it intended to close a deal with the next boss "shortly" as it announced a GBP2.5 million package to distribute gift vouchers to every season-ticket holder.
Celtic launched their season-ticket renewals despite frustration about not yet having replaced Neil Lennon, who resigned more than three months ago. Howe, the former Bournemouth manager, is expected to be confirmed within days but the wait continues while an agreement is thrashed out.
The club has been criticised by the Celtic Trust for failing to give season-ticket holders the "value" they were promised when access to games was prevented by Covid-19.
